Lifestyle | My New Year's Resolutions/Goals for 2016

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2016 and the year I finally become closer to 30 than I ever will be to 20 again - what an uplifting thought to start the year on...

Usually I do a round up of my goals from the past year and let you know how I got on with them but seeing as I pretty much failed at all of them, there's very little point in doing so. If you'd like to know what goals I had set for 2015 you can read about them here.

I didn't manage to blog more, drink less or lose the weight I wanted to but I did have two lovely holidays, I got a new job and took the first steps to starting a new career by signing up to a wedding planning course so all in all, it was a pretty successful year!

Despite the above, setting goals is still important to me and I do find that it motivates me in a way that I wouldn't necessarily be motivated without "something" to work towards so here are my goals for 2016.

1. Try Pilates
I'd really like to try a Pilates class in 2016; I have a gym membership that I barely use and my gym offer Pilates amongst various other classes and so I'd like to give it a go and see how I get on. I'm not putting pressure on myself to attend for a certain amount of time or with any particular goal in mind and I think this could be the way to achieving this goal.

2. Make a budget and stick to it
This one is very important and one that I cannot afford to fail at. It's ridiculous how bad I am with money but I finally paid off my credit card in 2015 and I fully intend to be better with money this year.

3. Switch off more often
I started doing more of this last year and found it really beneficial; taking time off from the internet and blogging and social media and just being in the moment is so valuable and something that I want to continue this year.

4. Refine my personal style
I'm not really a follower of fashion, in fact most of the fashion trends make me feel incredibly old, so I'd really like to refine my personal style and spend more time and money investing in key pieces that will last me for longer - whilst I still love shops like Zara I think that it's time my image grew up a little bit and I spend most of my life in work wear so I want more transitional pieces as well as a more casual wardrobe for weekends.

I'm keeping it short and sweet this year, there's a lot of things personally and professionally that I would like to achieve and I think that I'm going to be kept pretty busy!

What are your goals for 2016?

    1. I'm going to have to spend a while working out what works best for me with regards to budgeting but it's absolutely essential! I'm just waiting for the gym to put up next weeks timetables and I'm booking it! Good luck with switching off! xx
